my new-ish workout plan

my new work out plan is this:

35 minutes of heart pumping exercise every day for 30 days

AND yoga doesn't count?!

so... now i'll tell you how i'm doing thus far... i just finished day 9. i'm trying to switch between biking and running so as to not kill myself from the get go. thus far, i'm doing great. i might even start to like the run. and today's run was made all the more better by listening to the Savage Love Podcast. it's like his column but people call in and he rants while answering sex questions. makes for good laughs while sweating your ass off and such.

so i got this idea about blogging about the fitness plan (yes, i know, no one's ever thought of it before- call me revolutionary) when i heard this effing lame story about a lady blogging away debt. now, not that posting your spending, to the penny, for all the world to see isn't motivation to get your shit together and pay off ass loads of credit card debt, because it is. scrutiny is always rough. but it made me think about this other story i heard (i am a talk radio and podcast junkie) about a woman doing the same sort of thing but asking people for money to help her pay off her credit card debt.

let me be forthright about this... i think donating money towards a good cause, such as the Barfuss kids coughing machine (which i donated to) is fantastic. and as americans, we're great at coming to the rescue with money when it's needed. but, seriously! asking total strangers for money to pay off your credit card debt because you don't know how to live within your means seems totally uncalled for. in my opinion. plus, i don't think it gets to the heart of the spending problem and likely, that lady just continued to spend without any other consequence.

maybe i'm totally wrong. and maybe my complaint makes me a complete and utter bitch. but whatever.

either way. i'm totally off subject and thought i'd blog about the fitness plan to keep me motivated to keep it up! so stay tuned for random posts about it.

Why having a homebased business is NOT always a good idea.

My hair is currently pulled up in a knot. Not an attractive one I might add.

I am wearing a tank top and sweats.

I have makeup smeared across my face.

I am drinking coffee.

I just finished running around the block.

My doorbell rang, and it was an established realtor. He needed to ask questions about a neighboring house. Lucky me. Then he notices I have a home based business. Oddly enough, he needs someone with my skill. I look like absolute HELL and he is going to possibly hire me.

Yeah.

***On another note*** I am about to finish cleaning up the shattered glass in my 1/2 bathroom. A light fixture decided to fall off my ceiling and crash everywhere. SCARY. I have a fairly new house and this shouldn't have happened. Whomever designed this type of light should be shot.

The thingamajig that the glass screws onto is also the thingamajig that screws into the base to hold the glass up. Two things that screw??? Ok, that sounded worst that it was. /wink So by screwing in the glass you can actually be unscrewing the whole thing from the ceiling. Um... anyone else think this is a bad idea? This light was HEAVY. Anyways, the possibility for this type of accident is way more probable than I had thought possible.

Now I get to go buy:
  • A replacement glass and thingamajig
  • Some superglue or a welder (to get rid of this potential)
  • A LOT of beer

OMG... I might actually be able to run a 5k!

Today I ran 2.5 miles. WHAT you say? Yeah, I did it. I also completed my first 5k. I ran 27 minutes out of 39. Right now I am patting myself on the back. This really is a great accomplishment for me. Consider this, I haven't even ran a full mile straight for about 3 years now. Not only did I do that today... I kept going.

I would like to thank Loralee first for this.

Loralee is my gym partner. I usually have to pick her up since she doesn't have a car. This motivates me to go. Plus she always says how "out of shape" she is. Now, when someone tells you how "out of shape" they are and then they proceed to run a mile, it makes you work out harder. There is no way I can wimp out and be even more out of shape than the "out of shape" person. This makes me work out harder than I normally would. Thank you Loralee! Through this whole process Loralee has lost around 17 pounds, and I have only lost 5. GRRRR.

Loralee is looking good. I am looking the same. (same =bad)

Now I need to thank Chelle.

Chelle is the reason I am running. I posted before that this is her bday gift in June. I may not run the 5k, but I want to know that I actually can. So thank you Chelle for making me get my butt to the gym. Hopefully my butt will look better because of it. Oh, and thank you Chelle for buying me a Margarita last night. Yet another reason I needed to run today. (drink margarita=work out harder at gym tomorrow) See I CAN have what I want. I just have to work out to get it.

Now I need to thank Jess. LOL.

Jess texted me while I was running today to tell me she was eating fries! LOL. Just thought I would thank her. Why? No reason. At least I know she thought of me today. HEHE.

So that is my update. I am going to go stretch again now then eat a light lunch. I can already feel some of my muscles tensing up. I am going to have to beg my husband for a leg massage tonight. I think I have deserved one.

I should have used Mucinex DM... oh, and an announcement

I am sick.

Sick.
Sick.
Sick!

The type of sick when you wonder if it is changing to Bronchitis or pneumonia.

Sick enough that I really want to just go to bed. Too bad I need to work, watch kids, do laundry, clean the house, and go grocery shopping. Too bad for me.

I have been using NyQuil PM at night. Lovely. I use the DayQuil during the day. Not as lovely. I really should be using the Mucinex DM.

***********ANNOUNCEMENT*************

In June I'll be participating in a 5K run. This is in thank to my friend Chelle which asked for this "present" for her bday. I am going to try to run all of it. Currently I can run for about 5 minutes before I die. I've been training for about 3 weeks. If I run for two minutes at a time I can actually run around 12 minutes.

Yesterday I almost passed out. Honest. I tried to run while I am this sick. I was running and next thing I know I have the spins. I hate the spins. When sick... when drunk... I really hate the spins.

So... to make a longer than necessary story short.
  • I am slowly increasing my running.
  • I am trying to watch what I eat.
  • I am trying not to make an ass out of myself by falling off the back of the treadmill.
  • I am trying to lose weight.
  • I am again... trying not to make an ass out of myself.

If anyone has any good suggestions for running songs I would love to hear them. I need to get some new music on my player.

Here is a song I should probably get...

Eye of the Tiger

Risin' up, back on the street

Did my time, took my chances

Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet

Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast

You change your passion for glory

Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past

You must fight just to keep them alive

Chorus:

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight

Risin' up to the challenge of our rival

And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night

And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat

Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry

They stack the odds 'til we take to the street

For we kill with the skill to survive chorus

Risin' up, straight to the top

Have the guts, got the glory

Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop

Just a man and his will to survive
